IF YOU REST, YOU RUST
Given time; all steel property poles will rust. Even if they’ve been galvanised (as all new property poles should be). And it’s not simply the rain that and damp that’s the problem. Acidic soil speeds up the process as does any damage to the pole that chips the zinc away from the steel.
When checking your property poles for rust, look to see if any of the zinc coating has been compromised or is missing, repair as soon as possible. Check beneath the soil line to get an idea of what’s going on below ground. This is where damage can occur without you even noticing, especially if the property pole is in soil that stays damp for long periods of time. So, check. Regularly.
