Lightning can and does strike twice

large storms can bring down property poles

Especially in Queensland. In the final of our ‘fatal four’ series of what can cause problems for the integrity of your property poles, we examine storm damage. Unlike rot, rust and termites storm damage is instantaneous and impossible to prevent.

The fact is, storms are part and parcel of summer in Queensland and every year we see multiple severe storm events, so you are almost certain to experience a severe storm at least once a season. Probably twice; leaving your property poles at the mercy of lightning strikes, high winds, heavy rain, flooding and flying debris.

Of course, there are precautions you can take. Ensure your property poles are sited a safe distance from your home, make sure there are no trees with branches growing through power lines (never try and trim these yourself) and, ensure that your property poles are sound and in good condition.

If you are unlucky enough to suffer damage to your property poles during a storm, follow the safety guidelines [View Here] and NEVER go near a live wire. Powerhouse Air Conditioning & Electrical provides an emergency service in the event of storm damage, so if you’re unsure of what to do, give us a call straight away.
